The Shining Light BBQ Competition began as an effort to establish fellowship between local congregations and serve the community at large. Since the first competition, the Lord has blessed the fellowship to grow by congregations involved and patrons served, in such a way that the first Saturday of June is an expected event date on the calendar. 2025 will be the 5th consecutive year of the BBQ.

In 2024, though the weather was less than ideal, with high winds and rain, over 500 people were welcomed by our volunteers and served some of the greatest BBQ around. Shining Light’s success is largely due to donations from partnering congregations, local businesses, and kind-hearted folks who believe in what we are doing. It’s simple, donations come in, cooks show up to cook, and lots of people show up to eat!

At any given time during the day, you can look out on the property and see people hanging out under a tent or a tree, playing games or dancing, hugging someone they haven't seen in a while, grabbing some much-needed items from the giveaway table, and sharing with one another about how good God is.
